SoFplus client support for HTTP file transfers

Whats the point of those files anyway? New players joining will quit before entering.
The development version of the SoFplus client has support for HTTP file transfers, which speeds things up considerably. Example: On my connection, the UDP download of containeryard.bsp + all new textures took 44 minutes, but via HTTP it only took 52 seconds (about 50x speed-up). Retard has been beta testing and would probably confirm this, if he hadn't been banned from this forum for silly reasons.

Not interested really. What matters is that SoF needs to be restarted after the http download, the restart should be scripted too. automatic restart + reconnect

No restart required.

Added example movie (made by Retard): http://sof1.megalag.org/video/httpdl.mp4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does it matter if the webserver is Linux or windows ? Also will sof1-megalag.org offer webspace to server-owners or do we have to manage it ourselves ?

I question your question but if you questioned your own question, things would be a bit clearer.

Spare me your riddles.

Point is that I want to know how much sovereignty the server-owner would lost when it is using ctrl's database for the http download.

Since CTRL allies himself nowadays with people from CH and since recently with cheaters like Retard and hosting #1 server, it is a legitimate question.

Doesn't matter.

You don't need webspace. Most files (I'm guessing about 95%) are already available on my server. Missing files will be added, if they are available. I haven't been able to add some files, because I only have corrupted versions from the big mappack files.

SFL can provide fastdl services via webhosting through apache2, if this becomes something credible contact me, i will set it up with daily restarts.
That will prevent your servers from being wasted and rotted.

In this i actually see an option to make a small anticheat based on userscreens. Using this with sofplus could make a forced screen every minute or so, which will be uploaded in a matter of seconds. Only thing needed would be an online database to store it.

edit: forgot the word 'see'

The suspense is unbearable, :dban: how about a little teaser/trailer of the other options  :ghehe:.
In a world of 140 characters and Snaps/Vines that take 7 sec.
A teaser could be 5 sec

I stopped working on it when the last players left, but may finish it someday.
