start question?

Post by wormz »

hi, sorry for this type of asking .... but i'm a bit confused about the registration question:
Which number is out of sequence 123456879: *
i think i'm not a stupid man, but i got no result.
so i tryed and got the result. (after no results with many wrong logic try's).
After that i began to think how?
.... is it:
Spoiler!
(1+2+3+4+5+6)/7
....if 'yes' can someone tell me the math name for this logic?
thanks

Shock, as hard as you try to make it easy to register, some people go passed the obviouse thinking it can't be that easy.

May be there should be spaces between the numbers!

Or use, "out of order" instead of "sequence"!

Or, what number comes after 6!

You might end up just giving out the answer:

PLease type "7" (without the quotes) in the box bellow ;)

The example wormz gave is from last year, bit odd he used that one..
But yeah I've added spaces between the numbers now. Also the one on the register page and the one above - there's two correct answers - 8 is also out of order ;)

True, but it all depends on the question:

"Which number" opens a can of worms!

Should I use "number" or "numbers" ... "is" or "are" ... "which" or "what" and so on.

Above line could be disputed over and over and everyone could be right.

English Grammar and Spelling is confusing for most (specially when it comes to UK, US, Canada and other English speaking countries)

.... ooops, "is" or "are", "for" or "to", "specially" or "especially" .... I give up

That link sounds legit alright. But there should be other working options too. On some forums I only have to wait a few seconds while they are automatic confirming on their side while I am a human or not.

Wouldn't this work ?

https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Nobodies implemented this into the 3.0 line of phpBB and this line is now at an end https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... #p14098361" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As previously announced, the phpBB 3.0 line has now reached EOL and all MOD forums have been locked. New MODs and updates to existing MODs will no longer be accepted. The modifications category has also been set to hidden in the Customisations Database.
Updating to 3.1 and there's a possibility to use the recaptcha https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2295956" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
....but it's been marked as an abandoned project.

3.2 (when it's released) is said to have the recaptcha already built in.

I see. Anyway when the possibility is there to use reCAPTCHA at least give it a shot for a day or two.

To update or not to update, that is the question. Seems an awful lot of work just so some poor soul doesn't have to think too much about registering.
Updating means going back to scratch, nothing on the 3.0 line (mod wise) works with 3.1 so the board would look like this http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Although it's very good for mobiles, might be worth doing just for that.
