! Double elimination knockout-stage.

3 Week Qualifier - Groupstage
Before the knockoutstages start, there will be a 3week qualifier that weeds out inactive teams or the teams that performed the weakest.
Out of 16 teams, 12 will proceed to the knockoutstage.
Meaning 4 teams will be directly knocked out of the tournament after 3 weeks.
Groupstage + Double Elimination knockout-stage
The top12 of the 3week-qualifier advance to the Double Elimination Knockout Stages.
The top4 of the 3week-qualifier receive a BYE and are directly qualified for the quarter finals of the winners bracket.
The other 8 teams of the 3week-qualifier will advance to round 1 of the winners bracket.
Double Elimination basically means that teams in the winners bracket, can still win the tournament if they lose a match. They will then be moved to the losers bracket. If you lose a match in the losers bracket however, you are knocked out of the tournament.
At the bottom of the page, you can find a visual presentation to simplify this for you.
Map + Bansystem
The knockoutstage consists of a unique mapseries.
All bracketstage matches are a best of 3 series. *
The grand final matches are a best of 5 series. **
* Teams must win 2 out of 3 games.
**Teams must win 3 out of 5 games. The winner from the winners bracket, has a 1-0 advantage over the winner from the loser bracket.
As you know, all bracketstage games will consist of 3 games. 3 different symmetric maps.
The pick and bansystem only counts for the knockout stages, the maps in the groupstage are chosen by the admins/organisor.
The system goes as follows:
1. Team A bans 1 map
2. Team B bans 1 map
3. Team A picks 1st map to be played
4. Team B picks 2nd map to be played
5. 3rd map is listed in fixtures
The bansystem allows teams to strategically outpick their opponents. For example, “Evilan’s team bans sudctf1, because sudctf1 is Junior’s best map and Junior bans jpntclx because that's Evilans best map ”.

Re: 2vs2 Tournament Format
Tournament format updated.
Had to make a change since there will be less teams advancing to the knockoutstage + only a 3week groupstage/qualifier instead of 9 weeks.
